Short version: Got_it works on your Mac and doesn’t send your screenshots anywhere you didn’t send them.

Got_it

Got_it processes screenshots and annotations on your Mac. It does not send screenshots, QR contents, usage analytics or identifying information to the developer. It does not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and no account is required.

Screen access and saved content

macOS Screen Recording permission lets Got_it capture the screen content you request. You can revoke it in System Settings. Captures may contain personal or sensitive information visible on your screen.

When automatic saving is enabled, the original capture is saved locally. Annotation updates are written when you save. Settings explain private mode, which disables automatic original saves and recovery drafts. Applying redaction does not erase a separate original that was already saved.

In the App Store edition, choosing a save folder in Settings grants access to that folder. Got_it stores a local security-scoped bookmark to retain that permission, and you can select a different folder at any time.

Recovery and preferences

Preferences, saved project names, unfinished editor recovery drafts and temporary drag-export files are stored locally. Recovery drafts may contain the original image and are purged after 14 days. Temporary drag-export files are purged after one day when the app next runs its cleanup. Removing a saved project name does not delete its screenshot files. The screenshot delete action moves its saved file to macOS Trash.

Sharing and QR codes

Clipboard, drag-and-drop and file export are controlled by you. Other apps you share with apply their own privacy policies. QR recognition runs on-device. Opening a recognized web link launches your chosen browser, and that website’s privacy policy applies.
